Wangari Maathai is not the only Black woman or Black person who thinks that AIDS was created in a lab as a means of population control in Africa. I for one agree with her. What is more interesting to me, is that despite her strong, brave willingness to go on record as saying that, she was still Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. There are a number of Pan-African groups that have been decrying AIDS as a genetically mutated disease introduced into Africa through contaminated vaccinations as a means of controlling the population of the continent. It was a major arguing point at the first World Confernece Against Racism held in Durban, South Africa a few years ago, a conference I might add, that the US representatives walked out of when confronted and being asked to be accountable for inconscionable foreign policies by dozens of human rights organisations from all over the world. It's fine to say Ms. Maathai is delusion, but I suggest to you that you need to familiarise yourself with Memorandum (NSSM) #200, written by Henry Kissinger in 1974. That memo specifically discusses the effect of Africa's population on US national security, and advocated depopulating developing states in Africa to protect US resources. A few years later, AIDS began to make itself felt across the world. I don't believe in coincidences. Lest you think I am criticising you, let me disabuse you of that idea. I believe though that the general ignorance of the American population regarding the activities and motivations of its government is often the country's worst enemy when criticising people who are working against injustice in the world. I can't say before you accuse Ms. Maathai of delusional statements, you ground yourself more in the arguement. You've already made your statements. However, I say all this to encourage you that if you disagree with the statement that's fine, but do it from a position of strength rather than ignorance.

Islamofascists do not equal all the Muslims in the Middle East, just as Rumsfeld does not equal Western democracy. Also, many of them, the Palestinians most notably, have no option to live peacefully. 9,000 families have lost their homes this year alone - and I somehow don't think all of those 9,000 were involved in terrorist activity.

Thousands of Muslims live in our town, which has suffered zero militancy or terrorism in 50 years.

Just thought I'd throw that in as a thought.

Allow me to correct all of you on one issue. You all say that Wangari Maathai believes that AIDS was created in a lab. Well, she does NOT believe that and made it very clear in 2004.

As late as December 2004, there were 3 competing theories about the origin of HIV. When a pressman accussed her of saying that HIV was created, she explained that she was discussing the issue as one of the theories of where HIV came from. She did not say that HIV was engineered.

That said, it is easy to see why Africans do not easily buy the argument that HIV came from monkeys since they have existed with them for years. So, the key thing is to continue with research that will take us to the truth for the truth is out there and only responsible and persistent scientific invenstigation will continue to shed light on the origins of this destructive virus.
