Star Wars Celebration III

196celebrationiii.pngMy brother-in-law, David, attended the gigantic Star Wars Celebration III held in Indianapolis, Indiana, April 21-24. David is very possibly the most knowledgeable Star Wars fan in existence who still retains his normalcy. Out of the seven rolls of film he took, I've picked the thirty best photographs of fans who attended the convention dressed in costume, all of which can be found by clicking on "Continue reading" below.

David determined the characters names in all the photographs and in which episodes or other media they appeared in, even if sometimes it was at a distance for just a second or two. So, before you try and correct a reference, you better know your Star Wars episodes, books, comics and cartoons. Here is a montage of the photos:

Hey, great pics, just writting to say that star_wars07.jpg "Imperial Guard (II, III and VI), Stormtrooper (IV-VI), Princess Leia (VI), Jango Fett (II), and Boba Fett (IV-VI)"
It is not infact an imperial guard as such but looks more like Carnor Jax (telling by the black visor) from the crimson empire comics. Although he is wearing red armour instead of the canonical black So theres a change he's just a custom rouge Royal Guard or a mix of Kir Kanos/Carnor Jax

At the time I took these photos and labeled them I had not yet read the Crimson Empire comics and concluded that this costume was an Imperial Guard/Royal Guard. I have since read the comics and although I agree that the black visor is not the movie version, the helmet itself is not exactly the same as the Carnor Jax version. So, it is certainly possible that this was intended to be Carnor Jax, it is just as possible that this was intended to be a custom Royal Guard costume. Also, because Carnor Jax and Kir Kanos were both Imperial Guards I believe my original labeling was not incorrect. This costume could also be based on the Imperial Sovereign Protector, which was an elite form of the Imperial Guard. Unfortunately I have no way of contacting the creator of this costume so I may never know exactly what was intended.

How the heck does everyone get so many starwars costumes!? Either way I would probably make some kind of unknown mandalorian costume. I'm curiose how people made they're costumrs, did they bend sheet metal?, did the use a blanc mandalorian armour suit? how did they make it!? And were did they get the helmats for them? I'm sure people every-were are wondering, were do I get a costume like that? I used sheet metal and bent so it fit. The helmat has got to be the toughest part, and finding the parts needed to make a costume...
