New Freedom Tower Design

225freedomneedle.jpg

The redesigned Freedom Tower was announced today. It reminds me of something...I just can't think of what. But, I have this subliminal feeling that somehow it's appropriate for New York.

In all seriousness, this design is far better than the previous piece-of-crap topped by a bird cage/skeleton. I'd still be happy with rebuilding the old towers, bigger, better, stronger...Steve Austin style. But, I'll happily leave the final choice to New Yorkers. I just hope they (the people) have a voice, rather than the decision being made by out of touch politicians and second-rate architects aspiring to mediocrity.

"this design is far better than the previous piece-of-crap topped by a bird cage/skeleton." Yo say this because you do not have a clue about engineering and design. The engineering techniques that were put into the construction of the Twin Towers revolutionaized the construction of tall buildings.
    Idiot.

Xavier, before you so quickly throw around terms like "idiot," you might want to read a little more carefully. What part of "redesign" was at all unclear? I said nothing to criticize the original Twin Towers which I agree, "revolutionized the construction of tall buildings." A picture of the Freedom Tower "bird cage/skeleton" design by Daniel Libeskind which was going to be built before so many people objected and which I still consider a piece-of-crap can be found here.

You need to work on your reading comprehension and knowledge of the events and controversy surrounding the rebuilding of ground zero before you go off calling people names that appear to better apply to yourself.

If you want to say that the new freedom tower looks like a syringe then tak a good look at the sears tower which looks like a pack of cigarettes that spilled part way out. now if you live in nyc the tower looks like a modern day empire state building. esspecially since the top part lights up in different colors.

My only qualm is that there needs to be 2 of them. on with an antena and one without. placed east/west next to the north/south foot prints of the original towers. that would be the perfect statement. that and it would make the lower manhattan sky line look like nyc again. pre 9/11 if you showed anyone a pic of the nyc skyline with the towers it was unmistakenly nyc. build it back.
