Not wanting to have just another quiet ordinary weekend, Mary thought she'd add a little flair by having a kidney stone--her fourth. So, I came home early from work Friday and off we went to spend the evening at St. John's emergency room. If you haven't had a kidney stone, you are very fortunate...some people compare it to child birth, but Mary tells me such people probably haven't actually birthed a child. Anyway, we (I thought I'd catch a cold to make things even more interesting) spent the weekend on our backs/butts medicated.
Mary had a horrible day at home Saturday and so Sunday morning we called her doctor and told her that something had to be done. We got Mary admitted, hooked up to an IV going full blast and just when she started on her second liter she passed a bowling ball. Seriously, I'm getting three holes drilled in it after it comes back from the labs. All the nurses commented on how it was one of the biggest they'd ever seen.
Tonight, Mary is home, feeling much better and getting some well deserved rest.

I remember having gallstones and the pancreatitis caused by them. I was screaming for my contractions back! I started to give you all the gory details of my experience, but no need...it hurt real bad.
Glad Mary is feeling better. Does she deal with the phantom pains where she thinks she might (or might not) be feeling the same pain? I had them for about a month after being released from the hospital.
I have had 4 myself & this works the best. At the first sign, drink a can of asparagus (run it through the blender), follow it with a 6-pack of room-temp Coke. Get it all down within an hour. Keep it down. the stone will pass within 24 hr.
It works
Had one of these nice little weekend myself last week. I got admitted on Friday night, got better by Sunday morning and had to rush back to the emergency on Sunday night for another shot of morphine. This stone (actually, this was my sixth) decided to stick around for a week. I passed it yesterday at noon. It was too small to break it with ultrasound.
So Mary, I feel your pain (literally).
