It's only a matter of time before a movie is made about Jason McElwain a Greece Athena High School senior in Rochester, New York. On February 15, Jason, the team manager, was given the privilege of suiting up for the varsity game as payback for his years of service taking care of sweaty uniforms, getting water for the players and cheering on the team. There's nothing unusual in this sort of gesture...until the magic happened!
Oh, by the way, Jason was born with autism.
If you are anything like me, you'll enjoy watching more videos about Jason McElwain.
Thanks Dave.

I knew you'd like this. Another friend who saw it passed along a URL from a story about Jason on ESPN: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=2343490
Wow, thats amazing. Great find!
Hello, I saw your site while searching for my buddy J-Mac on google....i appreciate your support...I was on the court with him when this happened and i am so happy with the nationwide response
PS. i'm number 24 on the clips shown nationwide
This story is truly one for the ages...It's like a high school version of Rudy. And his peers were so amazing to him. Check out another video of the basketball game and the students lifting McElwain on their shoulders at http://collegeguru.blogspot.com/2006/02/autistic-student-jason-mcelwain.html
What a moment!!! I have never been so moved in my life. May God bless J-Mac in all that he continues to do. Kudos to his parents, teamates and friends at school.
Wow! way to go Jason
keep up the good work

I live in Rochester, and dam proud that our city, with all the crime, and bad media we finnaly get a chance to show the world we are not so bad. Thank you T- Mac for helpping us, you have no idea how great you are.
Wow! What a story and an inspiration for kids with special needs/disabilities. I have a little boy with Down Syndrome and he loves basketball. After I saw this on the news that night, I called around and registered him in basketball with the City program. Maybe someday that will be him at a school or even at the Special Olympics.
Even in Germany we talk about the magic wich hapend that day, so amazing, what else can i say, it gave me strengh, and i hope that one day my dream will come true....
Does anyone know if Jason McElwain has been receiving Neurofeedback therapy for his autism? This therapy is very successful for individuals with Autism. I have been hearing a lot about it and wanted to see if there was a connection. Thanks!
Hey Devin,
I remember being excited about this story a year or two ago. I just graduated high school and am trying to get ahold of Jason. I have autism too and I like basketball. If you can please give him my email eboresowATgmail.com that would be really nice. Thanks, EB
