Jason McElwain - Basketball Star

It's only a matter of time before a movie is made about Jason McElwain a Greece Athena High School senior in Rochester, New York. On February 15, Jason, the team manager, was given the privilege of suiting up for the varsity game as payback for his years of service taking care of sweaty uniforms, getting water for the players and cheering on the team. There's nothing unusual in this sort of gesture...until the magic happened!

Oh, by the way, Jason was born with autism.

If you are anything like me, you'll enjoy watching more videos about Jason McElwain.

Thanks Dave.

This story is truly one for the ages...It's like a high school version of Rudy. And his peers were so amazing to him. Check out another video of the basketball game and the students lifting McElwain on their shoulders at http://collegeguru.blogspot.com/2006/02/autistic-student-jason-mcelwain.html

Wow! What a story and an inspiration for kids with special needs/disabilities. I have a little boy with Down Syndrome and he loves basketball. After I saw this on the news that night, I called around and registered him in basketball with the City program. Maybe someday that will be him at a school or even at the Special Olympics.

Does anyone know if Jason McElwain has been receiving Neurofeedback therapy for his autism? This therapy is very successful for individuals with Autism. I have been hearing a lot about it and wanted to see if there was a connection. Thanks!
