We're clearing out my parents' house (mostly Aunt Donelda is clearing it out) and we came across these two items. (Ignore the USB drive, I just threw it in for a size comparison.) The first item appears to be some type of handle. Maybe something would be attached to the end, except for the fact that there is no indication of any wear anywhere on it. It looks like the end could be used to push something, while the middle portion could hook something.
The second item, has what clearly appears to be finger grips on one side and a full length rectangular opening, half way deep, on the other side. We have no clue what either of the items are. Also, there was no evidence they are in any way related or go together.
Anyone have any ideas?

The first picture looks like an oven rack pusher/puller thingy. I sent out an e-mail to my Dad cuz he has one and there is a chance he might have a real clue. I will keep you posted. :)
Just did a search online for "oven rack puller" and I was right. I rock!!

ok - my Dad got back to me on the other wood piece. Tell me if this makes sense...
"It is for lifting heavy things so that heavy thing won't dig into your hand ... sort of like a bucket handle, but it has a slot for the wire handle. I use them to lift my heavy jointer."
Hope this helps
Yes! We have a double winner, Goldberry! The first one is without a doubt an oven rack push/puller.
And, the second one, probably had as its primary purpose the carrying of plastic grocery bags, so they don't dig into your hand.
Goldberry, your dad is one sharp fellow!
The third one looks like a plastic keyring with a little LCD screen on it.
What do I win?
6000, the post said, "Ignore the USB drive, I just threw it in for a size comparison." Accordingly, all you win is a link to Evelyn Wood's Reading Dynamics website:
