Drew's First Field Trip
Drew's pre-K class and his first ever field trip! All eleven classmates are in the picture...and one little extra tyke, Will.
I think they are learning here that the tree is sad because it's never gotten the opportunity to become someone's home, or furniture for people to sit on or eat off of, or a fence to keep trespassers away, or a big strong utility pole so people can have lights and air conditioning, or...for a lucky few...a chance to hit one out of the park from home plate. Perhaps someday Mr. Tree will get to be something really wonderful and no longer be just an unharvested renewable crop.

I want Mr. Tree to be proud of his role of providing shade for children and maintaining a strong root system to keep the soil from washing away. Tell Drew that his class can go back in late fall to see how proud Mr. Tree is of his fall colored leaves. In fact, if Mr.Tree is allowed to grow stronger and taller, Drew can visit many many times and enjoy the cool shade and lean against the strong trunk for a nap.
Not all trees have to be furniture. Each has a purpose and a calling just like people do different things.
(Gotta love nature and kids)
WHAT!!!! You can have as many fornitures taht you want, but i you can't breathe air...they're useless! Leave trees where they belong! Don't you want you kid to be healty?
