Landon's team played their sixth game of the season this evening. Landon did a great job playing third base and went one for two at bat. Unfortunately, the other team was just too much and our boys lost 13-19.
Drew's team played their eighth soccer game of the season today. It was a tough game against an undefeated team. The other team simply out powered our boys which resulted in a 0-5 loss.
Drew's team had their seventh soccer game of the season today. Drew got to play goalie the second half and did a great job. He was really aggressive and made some great saves! His team wound up winning 6-4.
Landon played his fifth baseball game tonight. He went 2 for 2, scoring once, and played short stop and third base. His team did really well and won the game 10-6.
Will's team played their eighth game of the season tonight. Will walked once and struck out once. He played left field and right center. The boys played an undefeated team and kept it really close, but they wound up losing 4-8.
Will's team played their seventh game of the season tonight. It was another tough game in which Will only got to bat once. He got on base on a walk and eventually scored. He played left field and third base where he is getting comfortable playing. Despite their best efforts, this one was never really close and the boys wound up losing 6-14.
Landon played his fourth baseball game tonight. He goes after each coach pitch with absolute abandon.
High or low, Landon swung with all his might.
Landon, after walloping one off the tee, lays down his bat and watches the ball sail.
One last long stride before reaching first base. Unfortunately, the other team had an unusually fantastic throw to first base which got Landon out...but only just barely.
Landon showing his concentration and ready position at third base.
Going after a grounder.
Throwing the ball home.
Ready to hit another one at home plate.
Will smacked a long one off the tee.
Racing to first with his tongue out.
They're all afraid of the awesome number 13.
Throwing one to first for an out! After going 1 for 2 and playing center field, third base and pitcher, Landon's team won 16-8.
Will's team had their sixth baseball game of the season tonight but, unfortunately, Landon was playing at the same time. Mama got to watch Will while Daddy took pictures of Landon since this is his first year to play. Will walked the one time he got up to bat and played second base and right field. Will's team lost a really close one to Bixby 7-8. Ahh, Bixby, don't get me started.
We all celebrated Landon's sixth birthday today. Aunt Donelda was in town and Ma, Pa and Aunt Catherine came over to share the special day.
Mary made another traditional number cake and, like always, did an awesome job. Landon chose, his favorite color, orange icing on a vanilla cake.
Our littlest one is growing up.
Landon blowing out his birthday candles.
Iron Man came to visit Landon's birthday party.
Opening gifts...a dvd.
Nothing is more awesome than Captain America surrounded by other super heroes.
A Captain America mask...this is going to get some use! Thanks to everyone for helping make Landon's birthday extra special.
Will's team played their fifth game of the season tonight.
This was right before the game started...the only time I can get Mr. Serious to smile for me. Will's love for the game is matched only by his intensity.
Will hung in at bat for a full count, including a hard-hit foul ball, only to have a ball thrown helmet high be called a strike.
After right-center field, Will played third base where he did a great job keeping the runners close to the base. Unfortunately, the boys' efforts weren't enough as they lost 9-18.
Drew had to create a solar system for his school science class. There were few conditions and the students could have done most anything from a mobile to a diorama. Drew chose to make a poster and with the help of some styrofoam balls, string and markers and some awesome painting skills, he made a phenomenal solar system with all the planets, a constellation, asteroid belt and comet.
Drew's team had their sixth soccer game of the season today but, unfortunately, Drew was sick and had to miss it. Nonetheless, his team was able to win 3-1.
Will's fourth baseball game of the year was in Coweta tonight. Since it was was a late game, out of town, and on a school night, Drew, Landon and Momma stayed home.
Will played center field and walked in his only at bat. The pitching across the league remains quite poor as this is the first year the boys are pitching themselves. Will here is not looking at the stars but, rather, a pitch that is about to sail far above his head.
Once on base, Will quickly stole second.
The game was also memorable because, although the day was quit warm and comfortable in the early afternoon, the temperature dropped significantly by late evening and no one was prepared for it. Everyone on the field and in the stands was shivering. The abrupt change in the weather occurred across the midwest even resulting in some bad tornadoes in central Illinois. It was so cold, one of the boys, not Will, put his bag over his head, he looked silly at the time, but it was really quite a brilliant move. The boys won a good game 13-5.
Will had his third baseball game of the year tonight.
Will played second base and center field. Here he is making a throw to first base.
This is the first year the boys, just 8 and 9 years old, are pitching and the pitches are all over the place. Will backed away from this one that was heading right for his head. (The ball is right above the woman in orange.) Sometimes, the pitch is literally thrown behind him. Will only got up to bat once resulting in a strike out which turned out to be pretty common for us tonight. Our poor boys only scored one run in a very lopsided loss.
Landon had his third baseball game tonight. It was at the exact same time as Will's game and, although they were at the same sports complex, they were at complete opposite ends, like half a mile away opposite ends. So Momma stayed with Landon and I went with Will. Unfortunately, this means there are no pics of Landon's game.
It was a tough game. Landon played third base and catcher again. With their bats near silent, Landon only got to bat once and he got a base hit. The boys suffered their first loss 2-12.
Landon played his second baseball game tonight and played catcher the whole game.
In his first at bat, Landon hit a coach-pitch...eyes closed...but, it went foul.
Landon then hit a long one off the tee.
Running to second base where he was left stranded.
Back behind the plate.
Another great hit off the tee for his second hit of the day!
Taking off for first base.
Landon just about to catch a pitch behind the plate. It was a great game and the boys squeaked out a win 8-7. (I had to leave to take Drew to soccer practice so Momma took some of the pictures and did a great job.).
Drew had his fifth soccer game of the season this afternoon.
Drew had a great break-away and took a shot on goal that bounced off the defender in red. Drew followed up on the deflection and took another shot on goal but, unfortunately, the goalie made a great save.
For the first time ever, he got to play goalie. And, Drew did great!
One ball got by him for a goal but, for playing the position for the first time, Drew did an awesome job! Unfortunately, his team still lost 2-7.
Will had his second baseball game of the season tonight. Looks like a lot of late 8:00 games under the lights this year.
Wiil played second base and walked twice in two at bats. You can tell in the picture that Will wished the pitching was better so he'd have a chance to get a hit. The boys wound up losing a close one 11-12. (Pics to come.)
