During the week remembrance after President Reagan's death, there were many montages of videos and sound bites taken from his various speeches. However, I heard almost nothing quoted from this speech, although it is easily one of his greatest. Simple oversight or evidence of the networks' outright hatred of religion--I have my opinion. It's fifteen minutes long but well worth a listen: President Reagan's remarks at an ecumenical prayer breakfast in Dallas, Texas on August 23, 1984. |

When Red Skelton was a boy his 7th grade principal, Mr. Lasswell, one day explained the words and meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance to his class. Red Skelton's recollection of his esteemed teacher's recitation was the basis for his monologue on the January 14, 1969, episode of The Red Skelton Hour. It is concluded with a very prophetic observation of Red Skelton's own. |
